Jam Out With Some 'Familiar Looking Strangers'
Band from abroad takes the stage to entertain local audience after chance encounter with a Port Washington musician years ago.
On a trip to England one year, Port Washington resident Bob Mittnacht visited the Cavern Club — a place in Liverpool where the Beatles started playing — and had a startup experience of his own.
Performing that night was "Familiar Looking Strangers." Mittnacht encouraged the group to come abroad to do a United States tour, according to Port resident Dan Laurence. And so, they did.
Last year, the band kicked off a U.S. tour at Waukesha Bluesfest — and they came back this year, scheduling four local performance dates.
On Wednesday, the group performed at Live in the Triangle in Saukville. Their remaining local performances are all in Port Washington:
- June 29: New Port Shores, 8:30 to 11 p.m.
- June 30: Foxys Bar, 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- July 4: Veteran's Memorial Park Band Shell, 7:30 to 9:15 p.m.
"They are a fantastic group with a very energetic and great sound," Laurence said. The group also recently released a new album. (More information on the group's website.)
