Bright sunshine on New Year's Day didn't do much for the air temperature, which hovered around 15 degrees for the 2013 Port Washington Polar Bear Dip.

Hundreds of onlookers ringed the beach east of New Port Shores, and dozens of hardy individuals ran, danced, stepped and dove into the ice-cold Lake Michigan water to celebrate the new year.
