Port Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting 5-Year-Old Girl
Suspect allegedly assaulted child on two occasions in November and took pornographic images of the victim at his home.
A 35-year-old Port Washington man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl twice and then took pornographic photos of the victim.
James R. Esselman, 216 W. Jackson St., was charged Wednesday in Ozaukee County Circuit Court with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 12 years old and five counts of possession of child pornography.
If convicted, he faces up to 245 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
Esselman had intercourse with the girl on two occasions in November at his residence while babysitting the child. The incidents came to light on Jan. 21 after the victim told Esselman's mother they had played "boy butt and girl butt," and explained how the game made her cry. She then confronted her son about the allegation and Esselman admitted to it, but said he had only molested the girl once.
When police then interviewed Esselman, he admitted to sexually assaulting the girl twice and making the girl pose for sexually explicit photos, some of which he would make her wear a diaper while exposing her chest.
Esselman is being held in county jail on $100,000 bond, and is set to appear in court at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 for a status conference.

I can say I know this man and he is one of the kindest and nicest people I have ever met. I am very sad that this happened to this little girl and hope she can heal and still have a good life.
Ever since his accident he has not been the same. You can't say these things about people. Remember that God says we need to forgive. You don't get to pick and choose who is forgiven. We are not the ones to judge our fellow man. That is Gods job. So for you, a human being to condemn someone to hell is so very wrong. I suggest that you take a good look at yourself and your heart and think before you post. Imagine if someone that you cared about had these things said about them or worse said about you.
We all make mistakes, you know that you have skeletons in your closet and if world found out how would you be viewed. Yes he is sick and did a terrible thing. But you don't get to decide his punishment.

Sorta depends on whether you are old testament or new testament. For this level of violation (intentional), I prefer the old testament approach.

we may not decide what his punishment is but he was the one decided to do the crime. I also know the lil girl and her mother that he had done this too.. that little girl is the sweetest lil thing she didnt deserve what he did to her now did she.

What bothers me is that for someone else to do the same kind of crime gets only 24 years in prison and yet this guy gets more??? I think if the crime is the same so should the years....I just wish the person that person that got only got 24 years could get the same punishment as this guy.....just so these children can get help and yet feel safe at the same time while growing up.

I used to know this guy. He was a neighbor. Me & another neighbor used to play with him & his dads dogs when we were younger. He was really a kind guy from what I remember & never tried anything with us. This is crazy & sad. Just disgusting.
