An unknown prankster cost the local Pizza Hut store nearly $100 after sending a fraudulent order to a Port business.

Port Washington police were contacted at 7:47 p.m. Thursday after an order sent to Synergy Tuning, 740 W. Oakland Ave., turned out not to be ordered by anyone at the business.

The order total $97.80 worth of food.

Those involved are working to find out which computer the order came from.

• Just looking for a 5-finger discount: Police responded to the Shoppes of Port Washington, which recently moved into the former Heart & Home building, 123 N. Franklin St., at 5:58 p.m. Aug. 27 after a call about a theft. A 14-year-old Port girl had placed a pendant and hair clip in her purse, but got caught doing so. She was cited for theft.
• Somethings astray: A 47-year-old Port man called police after his dog started barking outside at 7:27 a.m. Aug. 27. Why? The dog was barking at a group of stray cats; it is unknown where the cats came from.
• No smoking: Police responded to Possibility Playground at 8:01 p.m. Friday after a report of juveniles who were smoking — but didn't look old enough to do so. Upon arrival, they found an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both of Port. They were advised to pass the word along to friends that smoking wasn't allowed on the playground.
