A Port Washington student has been chosen to receive a 2013 Herb Kohl Foundation award.

Theresa Reiss of Port Washington High School has been chosen as a 2013 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholars.

The $1,000 awards are being made to 100 teachers, their schools, and 187 graduating high school students throughout the state.

Initiative Scholarship recipients, chosen by their schools, have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships. “I think it is significant that Wisconsin’s students, teachers, and schools are recognized for their devotion to education and learning,” said Michael Lancaster, WCRIS president.
