Supporting local is an increasingly important topic as more and more people begin to understand the value of a locally-owned business. Here's a few suggestions to add to your local list.

While the Internet has certainly played a large role in globalization, it can also help community members think local.
For instance, if you're ever wondering what to buy for lunch — area restaurants often post photos on Facebook of what's cooking fresh on a given day, including Dockside Deli's Cream of Mushroom and Barley soup on Thursday.
Here are some other local businesses to know about on Facebook. "Like" their pages, never miss a thing — and increase your local support.
- Victor's Pier Street showed off an "all-beef chicago red hot hot dog wrapped with double smokes apple wood bacon, fried crisp, topped with chili and cheddar cheese, baked golden," on its Facebook page in September.
- Newly-opened Sweet Buns Bakery announced on its Facebook page that they planned to start serving soup and bread bowls soon; the business was looking for suggestions of soup types.
- Thirsty? La Chimenea on Thursday posted an interestingly decorated margarita to its Facebook page.
