Thousands Show Up for Honor Flight's Big Screen Premiere
The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight documentary is playing at select Marcus Theatres across Wisconsin through Friday, and it's first day was a big hit.
At least 2,000 viewers visited Marcus Theatres on Wednesday for the premiere of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight documentary on the big screen, organization officials estimate.
"Over 1,000 students have seen the film here in WI now ... on Day 1 ... not counting Madison ... not counting nonstudents," founder Joe Dean said.
The estimate includes a total of 500 students throughout Ozaukee County, according to Port Washington-Saukville School District Superintendent Mike Weber. The youth's attendance is part of the Honor Flight's secondary mission to bridge the gap between the veterans and younger generations.
"We will always remember the sacrifices of this greatest generation and our gratitude toward them," Weber said in an e-mail to Honor Flight.
The documentary, titled "The Story of Stars and Stripes Honor Flight," is playing in select Marcus Theatres across Wisconsin through Friday, when the film will have a limited release nationwide. Click here for locations and to request a special viewing.
