Shop Port, Think Local: Initiative Aims to Sustain Local Community

Shop Port, Think Local began as a casual conversation between local business owners.  They talked about coming together to provide the community with more options to buy local. This got the ball rolling, and once other businesses heard about what was happening — the program took off

Shop Port, Think Local has grown into a community organization aimed not just at making a profit, but sustaining a community. We have organized two events at the Sentry store to showcase the diversity of products made right here in Port Washington. (Check out these photos from the first Oktober Tasting Event.) This allows the community to stop in and sample products they might not have known were even available in their town.

Shop Port, Think Local aims to grow as a group and continue to welcome new members to our organization. The Port Washington community has been very supportive of the program. We ran a very successful ad in the Ozaukee Press over the holidays that brought traffic not only to Sentry but all of the individual stores as well.

Shop Port, Think Local brings the best food, drink and cleaning products our town has to offer to one central location at Sentry. We aim to continue to evolve our program in 2012: Look for new promotions, ads, events and more from Shop Port, Think Local this year.

Local businesses belonging to the Shop Port, Think Local group currently include:  Fireworks Popcorn, Sentry, Beanies Mexican Restaurant, Vines to Cellar, The Pasta Shoppe, Diamond Finish, Taste of Africa, New Port Shores, Sweetheart Cakes and Bernie's Fine Meats.
