1.  Take your time.  You have much more time than you think to make the big decisions.

2.  Beware the wolves.  Unscrupulous people know that, after a loss, people have trouble thinking clearly and thinking for themselves – and they take advantage of this.

3.  Just say no.  Now is not the time to be giving or lending money to your children, relatives or friends.  Not until you have a long-term plan and you are sure that you will not need it.
