The Port Washington Police Department works to protect the  community by committing to values of public trust, human life above anything else, community opinion and response, courtesy, compassion and respect, problem solving, teamwork, and integrity.

The department handles traffic safety and sponsors adult, juvenile, and youth programs. The staff comprises approximately 20 officers and lieutenants as well as other admitinistrative and investigative workers.
