2013 One Book, One Community Comes to a close
A great book and a great event top of the 2013 One Book, One Community event for Port Washington and Saukville Libraries
Our Fifth Annual One Book, One Community has come to a close, but not forgotten! Our book this year was The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green. As you may know, with every book comes a special event to celebrate the community read, however, with the intense subject matter of this year’s pick, we opted for something different than our fantastic guest lecturers of the past. We decided to still focus on the positive, but to do something especially positive with our main event. Because the main character of the book was inspired by a real person (Hazel Grace, meet Ester Grace) we wanted to involve her in our plans. Tho Ester Grace could not be with us, her spirit was. A foundation, This Star Won’t Go Out, was set up by her family as a loving tribute to her memory and to all of the other kids out there that are suffering the same way she did, by providing monetary support to families with children living with cancer. Because of your generous donations of time and resources, we were able to raise over $800 for TSWGO.
The WJ Niederkorn Library, the Oscar Grady Library, and Port Washington-Saukville Patch would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to the following business and organizations for making the 2013 One Book, One Community such an awesome event!

We’ve had many people come up to us after the event and tell us what a great time they had, sampling tastes from the different places, getting a touch of what they serve and pride that they are a part of a community that puts people first. It just my be the encouragement we need to do it again next year.
TSWGO bracelets are still available for purchase at the WJ Niederkorn Library. The $5 donation will go directly to TSWGO.
