A Lunch Nook

Finding a quiet way to enjoy a delicious lunch is getting easier in Port Washington.

Nice weather has finally rolled into town, and stayed here.

So nice, in fact, that I chose to have lunch on new outdoor patio, just behind the restaurant. Perfect weather, perfect lunch.

But I wasn’t just eating there. I was reading. Like any good librarian, or bibliophile, I always have a book on me. Even more convenient now that I can download books right onto my phone. I don’t even need my big book bag anymore, but it still comes along with me where ever I go. For my phone and my lap-top, I get my e-books at a number of places; Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks or Overdrive. The one I happened to be reading, however, was on a nook — a free rental device, courtesy of the library.

This particular nook is the newest model from Barnes & Noble. It’s smaller and lighter than any of the other e-readers the library lends out. It’s easier to handle, easier to read in the shade and in the sun. Unlike the others, it doesn’t seem to have the glare problem. Needless to say, I love it. And I loved being able to read it at a relaxing place like Tello’s.

For those of you who aren’t aware of the e-readers yet, come by the library and take a look for yourselves. We have , or rent them all. And those of you who already own one, come by the library at 6 p.m. August 8 to learn how you can download library e-books onto your device, home computer or lap-top.

Then you, too, can read your e-books anywhere; at the lake, coffee shops or the back porch at Tello’s.

And — if you go to Tellos — try the Fettucini Alfredo. It’s delicious.
