News from the Library Homefront

When you ask me how I am, and I answer, "Busy," this is why!

The has so many fun and exciting events in the works right now, I just had to share.

Free lunch with guest author

First up, to celebrate the library's 50th anniversary at its current location, we’re inviting the entire community to join us for lunch, on us, at the County Inn and Suites Nov. 13 at 11:30 a.m. View the menu and more information here.

Did I mention that lunch is on us? But that’s not all! We also have award-winning author Wendy Webb coming to give a talk about her novel, The Tale of Halcyon Crane. In the book, Hallie James returns to a home she never knew to learn about the mother she believed was dead. Set on a Mackinaw-esque Island, the story is filled with gothic themes and ghosts – a perfect pick for this time of year. Call the library before Nov. 5 to reserve your seat!

Antique appraiser visiting library

Before I forget, I wanted everyone to get a sneak peak at what’s coming up in January, 2012. I know it seems so far away, but it’s coming up quick!

Attention all antique lovers! We are pleased to announce that Antique Appraiser Mark Moran will be coming to the library Jan. 28 for a talk and appraisal. Starting at 10 a.m., Mark will be welcoming participants to present their antiques, in hope that a million-dollar jack-pot, hidden away in grandma’s closet, will be found. We are limited to 40 appraisal participants, so call in soon!  Most items are welcome, but there are some restrictions.

Excluded items: all weapons, including swords and knives (though folding knives with advertising are accepted); fine jewelry, including precious gems, pocket and wristwatches; musical instruments, including violins and wind/reed instruments (though some acoustic and early electric guitars are accepted).

Even if you have nothing to have appraised, come and join the fun!  Check out Mark’s website at http://mark-moran.blogspot.com/

Hope you can make it!
