The Two Rivers native had purchased a home in Port Washington the previous fall with his wife, whom he had married just more than a year before his death. McLean chronicled his battle in a series of online video blogs, and posted a YouTube video saying goodbye to family and the world after learning his cancer was back — and there was nothing else that could be done.

"I'm going to miss everyone, my family ... my brothers and my sister, and my parents. My wife, Cari. I love you so much, babe. I love you so much. I tried so hard, fought so hard — but the fight is over."
