The Wisconsin Humane Society is discounting its kitten adoption fees Aug. 7 through 14, in hopes of finding homes for the many cats and kittens flooding through their doors this summer.

Adopters will receive 30 percent off the first kitten adoption fee, and 50 percent off the second adoption fee at WHS’s Milwaukee and Ozaukee Campuses.

All the cats are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated and go home with a certificate for a free veterinary exam and 30 days of pet health insurance. As usual, adult cats over one year of age have no fee at all.

“Every summer we see an upswing in the number of cats coming into our shelters, largely because cats reproduce during the warmer weather at higher rates,” said Angela Speed, director of communications at WHS. “In addition, surrenders pick up, often because people are moving this time of year. We also see an increase at the end of each month because of evictions.”
