Free Meals Now Offered at Saukville Food Pantry

The Saukville Community Food Pantry is now offering a free meal site for community members in need, and is reaching out to the community for volunteers as part of the effort.

The Saukville Community Food Pantry is expanding its reach, now offering a free meal site for community members in need.

The site will operate from noon until 1 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month, according to the Pantry's Executive Director Mark Gierach. Meals will be served at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 166 W. Dekora St., Saukville.

"Meals will be prepared and served by various religious organizations, civic
groups and clubs with support from the Saukville Community Food Pantry," Gierach said in an e-mail to Patch. "We are currently looking for groups that would be interested in filling out several dates we still have open during 2013. For more information, call our number at 262-284-0588 and speak with (me) or leave a message and (I) will contact you as soon as possible."

Residents of Ozaukee County are able to use the pantry's services. They need to provide proof of residency either by showing a form of ID or a gas or electric bill with their address on it. They also need to fill out a sheet that tells the amount of household residents they have and an approximate annual income.

The pantry opened in January 2012.
