Giving Back Can be Easy — and Rewarding
Supporting local is an increasingly important topic as more and more people begin to understand the value of giving back to your community. Here's a few suggestions to add to your local list.
While the Internet has certainly played a large role in globalization, it can also help community members think local.
For instance, if you're trying to find a way to get involved in your community — it doesn't have to be that hard. There's plenty of organizations who regularly use Facebook as a way to let you know what's going on.
Here are some local businesses to know about on Facebook. "Like" their pages, never miss a thing — and increase your local support.
Find out what's happening in Port Washington-Saukvillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.
- Stars and Stripes Honor Flight posts regularly on its Facebook page about its events and donations, as well as offering opportunities for anyone to give back — such as with a purchase of a Stars and Strips Honor Flight T-shirt.
- Animal rescues abound in the Port Washington, Saukville area, with both Tailwaggers 911 Dog Rescue and the Wisconsin Humane Society - Ozaukee Campus actively sharing information about the cute, adoptable animals available.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee is often seeking volunteers for "littles" seeking "bigs" in Port Washington and Saukville. Read about a paired little and big to learn more about the program.
- Saukville Community Food Pantry opened less than a year ago and is still working to build it's Facebook audience. Help promote the cause!
