Honor Flight Flick to Play at Capitol Hill

The documentary film that follows the story of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight airs in Marcus Theatres throughout the state this week, but not before members of Congress take time to view the movie on their home turf.

The documentary film showcasing the locally born Stars and Stripes Honor Flight will play at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday in front of members of Congress as well as capitol staff and Honor Flight volunteers.

Jo Jensen, of Honor Flight, said four members of Congress will speak during a reception before the movie shows, and five WWII veterans will also be present.

," will hit the big screen in select Marcus Theatres across Wisconsin on Wednesday. The film will have a limited release nationwide starting Dec. 7. Click here for locations.

Starring two Ozaukee County WWII veterans, the film follows a team of local volunteers as they race against the clock to send every WWII veteran on a completely free trip — an Honor Flight — to Washington, DC to visit the war memorials built to commemorate their service.

Throughout the Honor Flight experience veterans begin to share their war stories — some for the first time. For many of the veterans, this is their first visit to Washington, DC and the first time they have been thanked for their sacrifice.
