Library Visitors Get a Little Llama Love

Llamas Avalanche and Lasabre of Pleasure Valley Llama Farms, along with owners — the Laux family — visit a crowd at Oscar Grady Library on Thursday.

’s summer reading program "One World, Many Stories" has been a huge hit.

The program encourages summer reading and this year Oscar Grady Library took part in Heifer's Read to Feed program.  The Read to Feed program encourages reading skills, while teaching students how they can help families around the world with the gift of livestock.

The reading program offers a variety of story times, guest performers, movies, weekly guessing contests and workshops.

Last week's guests were Avalanche and Lasabre, Chilean llamas.  A large crowd enjoyed petting the llamas and learning about them from owner Larry Laux. The summer reading program will send a llama to a family in need.

Wednesday is the last day to hand in reading logs for the summer reading project. All winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Thursday, during the end of the program party. There will be refreshments,
piñata, games, reading winners announced and reading certificates awarded.
