Paper Lantern Event Launches New Coal Dock Park
Now open to the public, Port Washington invites people to celebrate the launch of Coal Dock Park with a paper lantern event on Sept. 28.
Port Washington Main Street hopes to launch 500 paper lanterns over Lake Michigan to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed Coal Dock Park.
The lakefront park is located on the former We Energies coal docks, and opened up late this summer.
People interested in participating will pay $10 per lantern to launch between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28, according to VisitPortWashington.com.
"You can create the memory of a lifetime ... commemorate a family member, celebrate a birth, birthday or special occasion or just come be a part of this exciting once in a lifetime opportunity!" the website says.
