Playful Pup Has Tons of Energy, Love to Go Around

Patch and the Ozaukee County Humane Society-Saukville Campus will feature a pet that could be yours every week. This week features Justin, an 11-month-old labrador-retriever-hound mix.

The Ozaukee County Humane Society-Saukville Campus has plenty of pets that are looking for a home. Available pets are showcased on the society's website, and Patch will feature the critters every week.

This week features Justin, an 11-month-old labrador-retriever-hound mix. Like all of the society's adoptable dogs, Justin was neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

The Humane Society is now starting to offer puppy and dog training classes. Spring classes coming up include:

  • Puppy ABC's Class, for dogs 5 months and younger, teaching basic skills and socialization, starting on May 21 and May 26;
  • Therapy Dog Training Class, helps dogs practice skills required for Delta Society Pet Partners registration, and learn what it takes to become an animal therapy team and volunteer in local hospitals, nursing homes and schools, starting on May 21;
  • Dog Manners Classes, for dogs 5 months and older, teaching the dogs many cues such as sit, down, stay, off, leave it, wait at the door, come, walking on a loose leash and other important skills, starting on May 26;
  • Shy Dog Classes, a four-week course designed for dogs that are fearful or shy of people, other dogs, objects, noises and more. The class uses  desensitizing and counter conditioning techniques, and starts June 4.

These classes will be ongoing, so checking the site will help pet owners find the best start date for you and your pet.
