Tall Ships Head to Port as Maritime Fest Nears

The Maritime Heritage Festival is back in town this weekend, with tall ships, cardboard boat races and more.

Tall ships have already begun floating in to Port Washington's harbor as the Maritime Heritage Festival gets ready to open on Friday.

"Maritime Heritage Festival is an award-winning event featuring two majestic tall ships, an Artisan's Marketplace, educational and historic activities and displays, two music stages, harbor tours, children's activities, food/beverage court, fireworks and a cardboard boat regatta," according to the festival's website.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, with fireworks on Saturday night.

While last year featured the event's first Carboard Boat Regatta — it's coming back this year on Saturday. Plus, Sunday will feature a build-it-that-day cardboard boat race, as well. Both races start at 2 p.m. in the Port Washington harbor.
