'6 Dance Lessons in 6 Weeks' Comes to Memories

Learn about the newest show to come to Memories Ballroom Dinner Theatre.

Editor's note: The following is taken from a press release from Memories Ballroom in Port Washington.

After successfully sweeping through over 20 countries and in 12 languages, the poignant comedy "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks" will soon touch down at Memories Dinner Theater, 1077 Lake Drive, before Hollywood whisks it off to the big screen.

The worldwide renowned play, written by Richard Alfieri, is currently being filmed into a movie starring Madison-born Gena Rowlands from The Notebook and 30 Rock’s Cheyenne Jackson. Production started in Hungary this past April.

Memories' portrayal of the story is directed by Heather Clayton and features actors Sean Kuczynski and Mary Buchel.

"Six Dance Lessons …" tells the story of a retired woman who hires an acerbic dance instructor to give her lessons- one per week for six weeks- in her Florida condominium. The two personalities clash wildly in the beginning.  However, time softens their relationship as they reveal their secrets, fears, and joys, leading them to discover they may not be as different as they assumed.

This comedy, laced appropriately with music and showcasing the Swing, Tango, Waltz, Fox Trot, ChaCha, and Contemporary dance, addresses ageism and intolerance, with, as New York Observer’s Rex Reed puts it, “Just the right combination of humor and humility to make you laugh and cry at the same time.”

This production kicks off this summer's "Midweek at Memories" matinee series and plays Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 4-19, 2013.  Tickets cost just $32 for dinner and show, or $20 for show-only, and can be purchased via phone at 262-284-6850 or online anytime at www.memoriesballroom.com.
