Whiz Kid’s Name: Stephen Lear
Age: 14
School: Thomas Jefferson Middle School
Accomplishments: In addition to playing drums for Jazz Band, this eighth grade percussionist performed both a timpani drum solo and a djembe drum solo that he wrote himself at the Solo and Ensemble held on Feb. 26 at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: "My family is very involved with music and my brother-in-law is a percussion teacher at Butler University in Indianapolis. My family keeps me on track with practicing and learning new things."
