Lakeshore Lacrosse Has Another 2-1 Week

Lackeshore Ripshark lacrosse team off to 6-2 start to season

Last week the Lakeshore Ripsharks lacrosse team ended a grueling 8 games in 15 days schedule to start the season with two more easy wins and a hard-fought loss.

On Monday, April 22, the Ripsharks hosted Heritage Christian at Shorewood High School and coasted to an easy 14-2 win.  Homestead junior midfielder Max Woody led the way with 3 goals.  Homestead junior, Jake Hansen and Port Washington senior, Dakota Kwasny had two goals each.  Chipping in one goal each were Whitefish Bay junior, Hunter Crizer, Nicolet senior, Dan Wheeler and juniors, John Jaekels and Michael Hangsterfer, Shorewood sophomore Riley Sellinger and Homestead juniors Quinten Ziegler and Jack Wegman.  Zielger added 3 assists and Jaekels had one.

On Wednesday night the Ripsharks played a very physical, low scoring game that turned chippy against the third ranked Marquette Hilltoppers.  Marquette jumped out to a 3-1 first quarter lead.  The Ripsharks closed to 3-2 at the half but were never able to take the lead.  Special teams played a key role as the teams combined for 13 penalties.

Jaekels, Woody and Sellinger had the goals in the 7-3 loss and Kwasny added an assist.

On Friday, the Ripsharks took on the newest varsity program in the state at Homestead High School.  The youth and inexperience of the Ozaukee team couldn't hold up against the veteran Lakeshore squad as Lakeshore cruised to a 15-1 win.

The 8th ranked Ripsharks travel to Catholic Memorial for a 5:30 game Tuesday evening.  On Saturday, they take on the 9th ranked Madison Westside team at 4:00 at Nicolet High School.
