Red Lines in the Dust

Sanctimonious statements about crossing "red lines" from the government that supplied Saddam Hussein the material and technology to produce and employ chemical weapons on hundreds of thousands of people, civilians far out numbering combatants, are viewed as ridiculous by anyone outside our borders. Finger wagging from a government that stood by as its military burned Fallujah to the ground with white phosphorous, decimating the populace in revenge and in a great display of murderous terror, and now usual fix....send lethal weapons to the rebels, makes me sick...disgusted. I dont have words for the feeling. If there is anything universally obvious about the photos and videos from Syria, the hallways lined with bodies of gassed civilians, children, babies in diapers...non discriminate victims of a vicious despot... Ideological genocide.... It is that humanity is deeply deeply disordered....dearranged. We are killing ourselves in droves, in masses...around this beautiful planet. The flags, the positions, the styles of government, the words...no longer matter. Leadership is wrapped in propaganda, disinformation and outright lies. Russia, China, the US all back or directly commit this type of terror: state terrorism. This country, the USA, should immediately close down any factory that produces weapons of the sort so perfectly demonstrated in Syria, destroy our stockpiles of these weapons and join in a total ban on the production and stockpiling of chemical weapons. We support these industries until that happens. They profit enormously and lobby heavily to be able to amass fortunes...war profiteers. Your money and mine, pays for similar atrocities to those you may watch in Syria right now from the comfort of your home. Do you understand this? You and I pay our government to kill babies, wipe out neighborhoods, families, villages... This is evil. I encourage everyone who has any interest in peace for this world, to google Syrian Chemical weapons attack and watch some of the videos or at least look at the photos. It doesnt matter who these people are, whether or not they look like you, speak your language, express their belief in God as you do, etc. They were slaughtered by murderous technology deployed by murderous leadership in a world culture bought into the paradigm of extreme violence. Lest we distance ourselves from them, verbally taking these "Others" to task about redlines and what can and can not be done in war, declared or undeclared, civil or multi- national, we must first clearly understand that our nation has done the same, supported similar atrocity and continues to do so in varying degrees. Sticking our head under our pillows will not make this nightmare go away. Ignoring the Violence, aids more of the same.
