Bites Nearby: Java Dock is a One-Stop Coffee Shop

Offering fresh bakery, organic coffee, and live music, Java Dock provides a fun atmosphere to sit back and relax.

For a bite nearby, you’ve come to the perfect place.  Every week, Port Washington-Saukville Patch finds a restaurant or café that warrants a stop.  And here’s this week’s choice:

— Hot coffee, fresh bakery, and live music.  One could say that Port Washington’s Java Dock is a one-stop coffee shop.

The café offers a full list of hot and cold coffee drinks, all of which use organic or fair-trade products, like Alterra coffee beans and Anodyne espresso.  Here’s where Java Dock stands by its tagline “saving the world one cup of coffee at a time.”

And what makes Java Dock so appealing is its break from the typical chain store atmosphere.  Coffee manager Talloha Batcha said that what sets Java Dock apart is “personal contact and that we know most of our customers here.”  So when visiting, one can be sure to see a smiling face while picking up fresh coffee and a house-made cookie.

Java Dock’s laid back atmosphere adds to its charm.  Located in the old theatre building on Grand Avenue, the café provides an entire upper level of casual seating with small tables and sofas for lounging.  It provides the perfect setting for playing one of the board games scattered across the coffee tables as well as a quiet place to get some work done.  And on special occasions, the café even doubles as a venue for local musicians.
