Growing up in southeastern Minnesota, Salmon Wranglers charter fishing Capt. Jason Lewis spent his childhood fly fishing local trout streams.
But his "addiction" — as he calls it — adapted quickly to the large Lake Michigan waters. Lewis moved to Port Washington out of college, and within a week of being here, he said he had already purchased a boat.
Lewis teaches at Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse during the school year, and, though he no longer has that original boat, he returns to Port every summer to run his charter.
One of his favorite parts of the job, he said, is watching younger fishers reel in the big one.
"I enjoy watching those kids, especially the first time they get out there," he said, "and when fishing is really good — I'm ... right there with them. There's nothing better."
Lewis runs charters at a rate of $375 for five hours, for up to six people; an additional hour is $75. Evening charters, which last three hours, are $275. Learn more by visiting the website, calling 262-302-0167 or e-mailing email@example.com.
