'Everything That's Old is New': Bright Colors Make Comeback in Spring Trends

Though winter weather continues to linger in Port Washington and Saukville with snow storms and frigid temperates still in the forecast, it is already early March — meaning spring is around the corner and warmer weather items are hitting the shelves in retail stores throughout the area.

In downtown Port Washington, Zing Boutique owner Deb Neulreich said plenty of shoppers have already stopped by looking for warm weather apparel — mostly people with spring break vacations coming up.

"Everything that's old is new," she said, referring to many of the trends of decades ago that are starting to reappear — such as bright, neon colors, dolman sleeves and bohemian skirts.

Bright, bold colors are even becoming popular as nail polish choices, and Neulreich said she considers this a good thing as it creates a positive attitude.

"Color inevitably lifts a woman's spirits," she said. "(But), a little goes a long way."

Neulreich said she's also noticed a lot more older women jumping on these trends, and unusual occurence compared to seasonal changes in years past.

"A lot of times it looks like its the younger generation that's driving the spring fashion," she said, "but this year, (it's not.)"
