Supporting local is an increasingly important topic as more and more people begin to understand the value of a locally-owned business. Here's a few suggestions to add to your local list.

While the Internet has certainly played a large role in globalization, it can also help community members think local.

For instance, if you've got nothing to do on a Saturday night — think again. There's plenty of businesses who regularly use Facebook as a way to let you know what's going on.

Here are some local businesses to know about on Facebook. "Like" their pages, never miss a thing — and increase your local support.

Did you miss the Red Solo Cup party at Foxys Bar last week? Well, you probably wouldn't have if you followed the business on its Foxy's Bar Facebook page.
Not a fan of Red Solo Cup? Try a red frozen drink from a local Mexican establishment. Follow the La Chimenea Saukville Facebook page or Beanies Mexican Restaurant Facebook page for updates on specials and events at all businesses.
For a different nightlife style and the beer connoisseurs in the audience, follow Sir James Pub and stay up-to-date with the new beers available. The bar also recently added nitrogen taps to its offerings, according to its Facebook page.
