Memories Adds Children's Theatre to Entertainment Offerings

Memories Ballroom will be showing the musical children's show, The Bumbling Little Elf, December 22nd and 23rd, 2012.

Editor's note: The following information was taken from a press release provided by Memories Ballroom.

After serving as an entertainment destination for more than 75 years, Memories Ballroom is presenting, for the first time in its history, yet another form of entertainment, children’s theatre.  In addition to numerous activities as part of this morning of holiday fun, guests will enjoy Memories’ original, musical children’s show, The Bumbling Little Elf, December 22nd and 23rd, 2012.

Children age two and up will enjoy this charming and interactive musical play that emphasizes the value of kindness and inner strength. Mrs. Claus has taken under her wing a young elf, named Bernard.  Bernard’s bumbling enthusiasm is endearing, but his ability to leave a wake of destruction wherever he goes leaves him the subject of teasing and loneliness.

Through his comical, yet touching story, we discover that Bernard may not be full of grace and poise, but he is full of a gentleness and love with the special ability to share it with others. Perfect for the holiday season, the story reminds children and adults alike of the importance of showing kindness to others and believing in oneself.

After the performance of The Bumbling Little Elf, children and adults will be able to enjoy numerous holiday activity stations.   Within the walls of the beautifully decorated ballroom, guests can make holiday crafts, decorate a delicious cookie, let their imaginations soar in the wooden train play area, don the holiday spirit with face painting, write a letter to Santa and more!

The likely highlight of the activities will be the chance to visit with The Man in Red Himself, so be sure to bring your cameras!  To fill the rumbling tummies as the noon hour approaches, ala carte beverages, snack and lunch items will be available for purchase in Memories’ lounge area.

Hoping to spread holiday cheer to the community, Memories has also paired up with a local toy drive, Kapco’s “Kids 2 Kids Christmas”. Guests bringing in a new, unwrapped toy to PLAYtime will receive a free “Jingle Berry Fizz” kids drink.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this new type of programming at Memories,” said Heather Clayton, Memories’ new Artistic Coordinator as well as author and director of the show.  “We are hoping this will just be the beginning of children’s theatre programming at Memories.  Programs like this are such a wonderful way to introduce young children to theatre, while also offering an opportunity for children and their families enjoying quality time together; away from computers, television and electronic games.  It really allows them to experience something special with one another and to create endearing memories and traditions.”

The cost of $10.00 per person (children and adults) includes: the musical show, The Bumbling Little Elf, a cookie to decorate,  holiday crafts, access to the wooden train play area, face painting, an opportunity to visit and take a photo with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves and LOTS of GREAT Memories!

This holiday show package is available Saturday, December 22 and Sunday, December 23, 2013.  The performance begins at 10:30, with activities to follow.  Doors will open at 10:00am. Reservations are required for all shows.

Please call Memories at 262-284-6850 or visit www.memoriesballroom.com  to make your reservations (online service fee may apply).
