Unleashed: Lucky Dog Park Sets Open Date

Lucky Dog Park will officially open on July 1.

The fence is up and the paperwork is ready — all they need now at Lucky Dog Park are some four-legged members.

Ellen Paulus and her husband, Bob, are opening the dog park officially on July 1; the park is located on their business' property at Paulus Printing, 1270 Mineral Springs Dr.

The Paulus' have used their property to host dog "playdates" in the past, more specifically related to their work with greyhound rescue, and decided to expand the reach of the space's potential.

"The biggest thing for me is that I want to provide an area where dogs can exercise and run around, but in a safe environment," Ellen said. The park requires a paid membership, starting at $5 a day up to $200 for an annual pass. A monthly pass is $25, and a 10-visit punch card is $35.

The park will open only certain hours, though the Paulus' said the hours could expand depending on interest. Current hours include: noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The park is also available for private rentals.

Anyone interested in joining the park can call 262-284-4934 or e-mail luckydogpark@gmail.com for information. An application process verifies that dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and also must be spayed or neutered. The minimum age to attend the park is 6 months old.
