Victor's Pier Street Shanty Has Reopened, But Just For Dinner

After closing last fall, Victor's Pier Street Shanty in Port Washington has now reopened with a new concept in mind.

Victor's Pier Street Shanty in Port Washington is now regularly open for the first time since last fall, mainly during dinner hours.

Aside from a brief opening for Fish Day this year, Owner Victor Cerda has kept the lakeside restaurant closed since October 2012 while he worked to reinvent it with a new, simpler menu.

"We've changed the concept altogether," Cerda told Patch earlier this summer. "We opened it the first time and it didn't work — I thought, well, I'd like to retool."

Victor's officially reopened Thursday night, and it is now open daily from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. — for now — with a Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

More from an earlier story on Patch:

The new menu will be very basic, offering simply sandwiches served in paper boats - but the concept will be ever evolving and the sandwiches will soon prove themselves unique.

Compared to other sandwich places that do a good job in the city, Cerda said they'll have a full-service bar as another thing to set them apart.

Cerda said they opened Victor's the first time on the concept of being different and better.

"We're looking to do that still," he said.
