UPDATE: More Hwy. 33 Night Paving on its Way

The Highway 33 construction project is slated to see completion on Aug. 17 — pending weather conditions.

Overnight construction on Highway 33 will began this week, with the project slated to end on Aug. 17.

"There will be a hard closure tonight (August 2, 2012) for paving," Port Washington Department of Public Works Administrative Assistant Judith Klumb said in an e-mail to Patch. "The closure will be from just east of Tower Drive to the Highway LL roundabout. It will start at 7:00 p.m. and be completed by 10:30 p.m."

Other overnight work closed the road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

"There are closures and detours that will be associated with this work," a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said. "Changeable message boards are in place and will be used to keep motorists informed. Flagmen will also be used during the operation to allow access for local citizens to their homes."

The Hwy. 33 project started in late spring 2011, with plans to  from South Tower Street in Port Washington to the Milwaukee River overflow bridge in Saukville. The three roundabouts were added at the intersections of Hwy. 33 and County LL, Hwy. 33 and Northwoods Road, and Hwy. 33 and Market Street.

Initially, the Department of Transportation Project Manager , but Port Washington City Engineer Rob Vanden Noven said the project is now slated to end on Aug. 17.
