Slapping Wires Caused Power Outages

We Energies has resolved an issue that caused 1,400 Port Washington customers to experience momentary outages Tuesday night.

Wires slapping against each other caused momentary power outages for about 1,400 Port Washington customers last night.

Field workers quickly resolved the problem, which began at about 7:10 p.m., by replacing a piece of equipment known as a "jumper," which should also "prevent the wires from slapping against each other when the winds pick up in the future," Barry McNulty of We Energies said.

If you experience a power outage, call the power outage hotline at 800-662-4797 and check the map on the website to see if your area is affected.
