Third Annual Forever Families 5K and Silent Auction is Sept. 22

The event is sponsored by the Forever Families ministry at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington and raised more than $17,000 in the first two years.

An installed furnace, tickets to Walt Disney World in Florida, a north woods getaway, a ride to school in a Port Washington fire truck, gift certificates and many other items will be featured in the silent auction portion of the Third Annual Forever Families 5K and Silent Auction to benefit adoption on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Besides the 5K run/walk, there also will be a 2K walk and a bake sale. The deadline to pre-register for the race is Sept. 16. Registrations also will be accepted the day of the race.

The event is sponsored by the Forever Families ministry at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington. In the event’s first two years, more than $17,000 has been raised to assist local families in their adoption and foster parenting efforts and to assist orphanages overseas.

Same-day registration for the 5K and 2K is from 8 to 8:40 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. at Friedens Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington. The silent auction and bake sale is from 9 a.m. to noon inside the church.

Pre-registration for the race is $25 if submitted before Sept. 16; $30 on day of the race; $50 maximum per family. Registration fee includes T-shirt to the first 150 registrants, maximum of three per family. Additional T-shirts are $15.

More than 130 items donated by area businesses and individuals are available in the silent auction. They include: a complete furnace with professional installation (valued at $4,000); four "Park Hopper" tickets to Walt Disney World that allow you to visit multiple parks in one day; gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, including Allen Edmonds, Gary's Automotive Solutions, and Biever Travel; Worzalla Photography portrait session package; Shirley Schanen Gruen original artwork; Wisconsin north woods getaway weekend; American Girl items; tickets to Brewers and Bucks games; Green Bay Packers autographed football; Pampered Chef items; memberships to YMCA and Anytime Fitness; and a ride to school in a Port Washington Fire Department fire truck.
