Open Auditions for Memories Dinner Theater

Memories to Hold Open Auditions for 2013 Productions - November 5th and 6th

Port Washington, WI. Memories Dinner Theater will be holding auditions on Monday, November 5th and Tuesday, November 6th at 6:30pm for numerous productions to be featured in its twenty-first season of dinner theatre.

To finish out its 2012-2013 season, they will be looking for actors and actresses for The Cemetery Club, (Fridays – Sundays, February 8 – 17, 2013) as well as First Baptist of Ivy Gap, (Fridays – Sundays, April 19 – 28, 2013).  Directors will also be on the lookout for performers to join the cast of two murder mystery productions, You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Dead Dog, (January 25 and 26, 2013 – evenings) and Railway to Rigor Mortis, (March 22 and 23, 2013 – evenings).


 


In addition, potential cast members will also be considered for Memories’ third season of the “Let’s Do Lunch” weekday matinee series, which includes:  Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (June 4 – 19, 2013), Funny, You Don’t Look Like a Grandmother (July 9 – 24, 2013), Talley’s Folly (August 6 – 21, 2013) and The Kitchen Witches (September 24 – October 2, 2013).  The “Let’s Do Lunch” performances are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons throughout the run with one evening performance on the final Tuesday of the run.


 


Those auditioning will have the option of performing a monologue(s), up to two minutes long, for the directors (this can be from memory or read).  This is not a requirement for consideration for any of the available roles.  All individuals auditioning will have the opportunity to showcase their talents as they read from pre-selected sides throughout the audition process.


 


It will be requested that those auditioning select any/all shows they are interested in be considered for, so Memories recommends visiting its website at www.memoriesballroom.com for a brief synopsis of each production, performance dates and times and some character information.  Memories strongly encourages all interested actors and actresses to audition, regardless of the age and physical descriptions of the characters, as flexibility within casting is always an option.  If there are any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact Memories at 262-284-6850 or via email to info@memoriesballroom.com

Murder Mysteries (Will require performers to utilize improvisational skills and interact with audience members.  Some roles have been pre-cast. Available roles include):


You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Dead Dog (musical) – 1-3F (ages 18+), 1-3M (ages 18+)


Railway to Rigor Mortis – 2F (ages 20-55), 1M (age 20-45)


 


 


The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell


Doris - (female, age 50-65) A Jewish widow who is content to have loved her husband well and seeks nothing more than simply to go on remembering him.


Lucille – (female, age 50-65) A Jewish widow who appears to quickly have dismissed the loss of her late husband and hungrily searches for a new man. She flaunts the men on her arm with hopes that her philandering late husband sees that she has moved on without him.


Ida – (female, age 50-65) A Jewish widow who is in the middle of the two opposites, Doris and Lucille.


Sam – (male, age 50-65) The town butcher and also a widower.  He meets Ida during one of the cemetery visits and the two find a connection.


Mildred – (female, age 45-60) She is a glamorous and slightly younger widow, who also vies for Sam’s attention.


 


The First Baptist of Ivy Gap by Ron Osborne


Luby – (female, age 47 in Act I; 72 in Act II)  A widowed member of the church who fears for the welfare of her son in the military.


Olene – (female, age 25 in Act I; 50 in Act II) A member of the church, with a dream.


Mae Ellen – (female, age 25 in Act I; 50 in Act II) The church’s rebellious organist.


Edith – (female, age 40 in Act I; 65 in Act II) The pastor’s take-charge wife.


Sammy – (female, age 19 in Act I; 44 in Act II) A nonmember of the church with a secret.


Vera – (female, Age 40 in Act I; 65 in Act II) A prominent member of the church, also with a secret.


 


Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks  by Richard Alfieri


Lily Harrison – (female, age 72) Widow of a Southern Baptist minister.  Attractive, slim, well-coiffed and looks several years younger than her actual seventy-two.


Michael Minetti – (male, age 45) Ascerbic, attractive, homo-sexual dance instructor who strives to appear ten years younger than he is.


 


Funny, You Don’t Look Like a Grandmother by Lois Wyse & Sheilah Rae (Musical)


3 Grandmothers – (females, ages 40-75) Play a variety of “kinds” of Grandmothers


The Grandfather – (male, age 50-75) Plays a variety of roles.


The Son - (male, age 25 – 45) Plays a variety of roles.


The Daughter – (female, age 25-45) Plays a variety of roles.


 


Talley’s Folly by Lanford Wilson


Matt Friedman (male, age 20-40) - An accountant from St. Louis.  Bookish, erudite, totally honest and delightfully funny


Sally Talley (female, age 20-40) - The susceptible, but uncertain daughter of the family, who is the subject of Matt’s attention.


 


The Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith


Dolly Biddle – (female, age 50ish) Little cherub of a woman who indulges herself with anything life has to offer.  Her creative imagination knows no bounds.


Isobel Lomaz – (female, age 50ish) Likes people to think she comes from a much classier background than she does.  Bright, funny and articulate.


Stephen Biddle – (male, 30s) Nervous, prematurely balding and decent young man who is somewhat shy and non-confrontational.


You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Dead Dog (musical murder mystery) by Heather Clayton


(Some unmentioned roles have been pre-cast.)


1-3 Elvis Wanna-Bes – (male/female, 18+) Contestant(s) vying for the title of “The New Elvis”


Annoying Reporter – (female, age 35-55) Loud and obnoxious reporter, looking for her “big break”.


Bored Cameraman/woman – (male/female 20+) Intern or low-paid cameraman/woman who simply wants to finish the shoot and get home.

Lena – (female, age 20-45) Good girl in love with a “guy-gone-bad”
