Community Corner

First Annual Twisted Willow Harvest Feast

As
the temperature begins to drop and leaves start to change and dance off
the trees, we grab for those warm cozy sweaters and crave the heat of a
fire and the company of good friends and family. We also think about
food. Freshly picked apples, juicy pears, sweet potatoes, squash,
pumpkins and slow roasted savory meat, all of the traditional comfort
foods of fall. Farmers have celebrated the fall harvest for hundreds of
years, across many cultures, and always with a large dinner for family
and members of the community. In
Wisconsin, a state with a beautiful heritage in farming, our ancestors
would rely on the last harvest to prepare for the cold winter ahead, and
often enlisted the help of their community to reap what was sewn. To
give thanks for the bounty and to celebrate the end of the intense
winter preparations, the farm would host a community dinner after the
last harvest.

To honor this tradition and celebrate Wisconsin
heritage, Twisted Willow would like to invite you to join us for the
first annual Twisted Willow Harvest Feast on Saturday, October 19th.
Dan Wiken, owner, chef and farmer, started this year’s bounty with
hundreds of tiny organic seedlings in our own basement at The Twisted
Willow Restaurant. When the plants were ready for their new home, he
transported each one to our farm and tended to them for many months,
watching them grow into beautiful heirloom vegetables. They are now
ready for the Harvest Feast! Dan, along with head Chef Nic Keller and
Libations Manager Joe Buth are creating a menu using those very same
vegetables and other locally sourced items. The cost is $55 per person
or $45 per person for non-alcoholic beverages and includes a carefully
chosen 5 course farm-fresh dinner, paired with handcrafted fall
libations. Josh Becker, acoustic guitarist will be performing the night.
Having much to be thankful for and feeling strongly about supporting
our community and everyone around us, we will be donating 10% of each
reservation to The Ozaukee Family Sharing Food Pantry. This event is
reservation only, we are hosting two separate seating’s: 5:00pm or
7:30pm. The 5-course menu will be available October 1st. Unfortunately,
our full menu will not be available for the evening. Please call early
with questions or to reserve your seat at our Harvest Feast. We hope you
can join us!
