Friedens Church offers 2013 Vacation Bible School and Family Fun events

Port Washington -- “KINGDOM ROCK: Where Kids Stand Strong for God” is the theme of this year’s Vacation Bible School at Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington, which starts on Monday, June 17. VBS is open to all children age 4 through those entering fifth grade and is held from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day from Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, at Friedens, 454 N. Milwaukee St. The annual summer event features games, songs, treats, Bible-learning activities and teamwork-building games. Children will be assisted by more than 40 volunteers. This year’s theme helps children to learn that “God’s victorious power isn’t a fairy tale, it changes kids forever.” The church will be decorated to create a “kingdom” environment complete with kingdom-themed music. Each day concludes with —a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are welcome to join in for the special daily closing time. Friedens Church will also feature a summer Family Fun Nights program to be held each Wednesday night throughout the summer. The kickoff celebration for the Family Fun Nights will be June 19, the week of VBS. “We are excited that starting the Wednesday night of VBS (June 19) our Family Fun Nights will be back! Family activities are planned from 6 to 8 pm every Wednesday this summer.” reports David Toeller, Friedens Church Pastor of Student Ministries. “You can learn more about each week’s events by checking the Friedens website or Facebook page. Come on Wednesday at 6 pm and enjoy food and a great time with other area families.” Toeller added. Most Family Fun Nights events will take place at Possibility Playground, in Port Washington’s Upper Lake Park, based out of the Kiwanis Pavilion which has been reserved for grilling food. Summer events are designed for people of all ages. “We are super excited about our Vacation Bible School this year and the Family Fun Nights activities throughout the summer.” Toeller added.
