Christmas Parade Float Applications Due Next Week

Port Washington prepares for Christmas, starting with a parade.

Do you have a great idea for a float for this year's Christmas parade?

The theme is "Christmas Around the World" for this year's annual parade Saturday, Dec. 1, at 6:15 p.m.

It's recommended that ideas for floats are submitted by Friday, Nov. 23. The application form is online.

Here are the float guidelines:

  • No participant shall use a live Santa because Santa Claus is the featured guest each year and will be riding at the end of the parade;
  • Parade line-up positions will be forwarded to all participants ahead of time, along with other important details so please provide an e-mail address on your entry form;
  • Judged enteries, those that are within the year's theme, will receive higher consideration; and
  • Entry fee is a minimum donation of $20 (not required for non-profit organizations, with a check payable to the Port Washington Main Street due with entry form. The donation is to help support and continue the Port Washington Main Street Christmas on the Corner and Parade.
