Port Washington Community Street Festival

Questions regarding downtown Port Washington festivals.

The annual (I believe 6th) Port Washington Community Street Festival was yesterday May 26th. As the kickoff to the summer (tourist) season, Street Festival is one of the larger second tier events of the summer.  Certainly Fish Day and Maritime Heritage Festival are bigger and attract more attention and more people but Community Street Festival continues to grow.

During the festival yesterday I asked many of the people I spoke with the same question; what do you think of the crowd?  Every person I asked expressed they thought the crowd was much bigger than last year even though last years weather was much warmer and sunnier. If you think back to last year it was spectacular weather, upper 70's maybe low 80's and sunny.

This got me thinking. Is Port Washington becoming an event driven town grossly dependent on festivals and what if a several of them got rained out during one summer season?  Do we need more festivals or fewer, bigger fests?  What do you think?
