Spring? Where are you?

I know we just celebrated Easter, a sure sign of spring, but it feels more like the middle of March in Port Washington.

As I gaze out my office window I long to see the sunshine radiating off of the grass; yet this is not the vision I am met with.

This is Spring? Are you serious? I feel as though I have drifted into some type of 'time-warp' as it were. I know we just celebrated Easter, a sure sign of spring, but it feels more like the middle of March in Port Washington.

Every person I meet within my day — at the office, the gas station or the local supermarket, all I see are faces of despair. Shoulders hung low, faces drawn, souls yearning for the warm sunshine that never seems to come. I have been informed by our local media that this spring is the "coolest in 15 years."

I do apologize, but that does not make this stretch of cool weather any easier. In fact, that statement sends angst and desperation to the masses who long to mulch their gardens and dust off the patio furniture.

Please Mr. Sun — if you can hear my words — please come out. Please do not hide your face from us. I am sure you have heard the song, "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow?"
