New Music Social Network Website

New Music Social Network Website

I am working on a new music social networking site, similar to ReverbNation but more involved. It would be mostly for the Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington Counties, at least that’s where I’ll start.

--All local shows would be listed as well as venues with their history.
--There would be a daily blog of cool music related material. Eventually I will recruit more bloggers to do weekly posts for local bands’ shows only. This is to promote the locals not the already rich and famous.
--We will have help blogs for reference and how-to’s broken down for artists, venues, promoters, agents, producers, writers, and distributors.
--The goal would be a real community of music networking.
--There will also be email through the site and forums, with regular polls and contests.
--I would have a weekly newsletter that will be sent out so you don’t have to check in everyday.
--I’d love to also incorporate a section for local stores that sell merchandise, gear and equipment with sales specifically tied to being a member of the site as well as for the prizes in the contests.
--As well as monthly gatherings for networking I’d like to do biannual fundraisers with some local music programs, charities, foundations, etc.
--Obviously there will be Facebook, twitter, etc linked to the site...

If anyone has any more thoughts on the idea or want to work with me on this project please feel free to contact me.
What sites do you currently use for music? What do you like best? What do you like least? What’s missing in the world of music social networking?
Also feel free to tell me about any unknown venues or local merchants you currently go to for supplies.
What are some good causes I should contact for our charity and fundraising events?

I want to really do this right and know what you the music world want and need.
