RAW: natural born artists - Monthly Event

RAW: natural born artists - Monthly Event

Great find this week. I was invited by a band to go to something called RAW: natural born artists event at the Rave this past Thursday night. I have links below for the event, check it out. They will have shows monthly for most of the year, Feb - Nov. Its a really cool event that gives a venue for a variety of artists to express themselves in many ways; photography, painting, music, jewelry, fashion and much more. I personally am looking forward to the next one, May 23rd at the Rave.

So now to the music, since that’s why we are here. There were three bands that performed during the show, all of which are Milwaukee, WI bands and can all be found on ReverbNation.

The Quiet Time started the evening and as they warn you they are not quiet at all. They absolutely rocked it. Apparently they’ve only been a band for about 2 months and comprised of only two members Jordin Baas on guitar and vocals and John Doyle on drums, Jordin seems pretty quiet and shy but don’t be fooled, she can sing and wail. I have to say I honestly think this duo is headed somewhere and they are going there fast. So lookout because I know I am and can’t wait to hear more.

Then System Lights took the stage later in the evening, their first song was tolerable. The second and third were irritating and after that I was practically begging for it to end. I honestly can’t say what in particular bothered me, it just wasn’t good to me.

The last band to take the stage, and the band that invited me, The Belle Weather. This group of guys have created something special together, with Eric Cox on lead vocals and guitar, Steve Spalding on drums, Benjamin Olberding taking bass and Ian Cox on guitar. I was a little disappointed that they went last in the line up Thursday evening, due to it being a week night alot of poeple missed out on a great performance. They have a sound all their own, that is derived from many different genres, personally I can’t wait to hear them play an outdoor festival, I think that would be a great venue for them. I definitely think the Belle Weather is going places and have potential to grow and deepen their music even more. I am looking forward to catching them again soon. Thanks again Eric for inviting me, I owe you.
