UrbanBleu - Blues at its Best!

UrbanBleu - Blues at its Best!

I found a cool band from Utah that really know how to play the blues, a lot of bands claim to be blues but generally don’t have a clue what blues really is. Blues is felt deep down in your soul, you can’t just play the instruments and sing the words, you really need to feel them and make the audience feel them too, which is exactly what these guys do.

With a new album out, Public Enemy No 1 Vol 1, these guys bring it full on. Starting with “Missin’ you”, I immediately am pulled in and taken in by the beat, this song is a little reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd. “Keeps on Movin’” is a faster moving song and would be great to dance to, if I danced, the guitar in this song is undeniably tight. Next up is “Bourbon Whiskey”, now I might be a little biased on this one, as I am a whiskey drinker, but this is an excellent song. It’s filled with classic blues traits that really make you feel their pain and sadness. “Sticks N’ Stones” brings you back up a bit with being a faster beat that really makes you want to shake. This song is more about empowerment that getting a beat down, it’s a great way to wrap up the vol.

I am excited for Vol 2 and am crossing my fingers that someday they make it out to the Midwest so I can see them live. I haven’t heard a better set of blues songs since I pulled out my old vinyl to hear some classics like Robert Johnson, Son House, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
