Friday night traditionally is the start to the weekend.

In Port Washington, many of the local restaurant and bars have Thursday night specials to tempt you into starting your weekend a day early. This makes Thursday nights a great time to plan a night out, and best of all there are great specials out there that will make the experience light on your wallet.

  • , Ladies night starting at 7 p.m. — Ladies get $3.00 Martinis and Margaritas. Plus, Tellos also has happy hour drink specials and appetizers from 5 to 7 p.m. daily.  The happy hour menu has a great selection of tacos, burritos and wings. I recommend the chicken burrito. For $4.95 you get a huge burrito and a side of rice. Chips and salsa are always included.
  • , Thirsty Thursdays Beer Tasting — Sir James has weekly beer tastings Thursday nights starting at 7:30 p.m. Your $10 will get you 8 samples of different and unique beers. Check Facebook for details.  Sir James carries over 400 different types of beer from around the country and world. My favorite beer from the last tasting was Knot Stock from Wisconsin Brewer Futhermore. Knot Stock has notes or cracked black pepper. This beer was surprisingly refreshing with a bit of a kick.
  • , Thursday night Karaoke — Bring your friends and sing the night away. They also have drink specials. Be sure to check their Facebook page to find out the daily special
