Ozaukee County: Dog Park Heaven

With access to a handful of nice dog parks and trails in Ozaukee County, some people may not know where they are located.

Here are a few locations with some information about the park:

1. Muttland Meadows, 12701 N. Green Bay Rd., Grafton - located across the road from the upper area of Lime Kiln Park. Dogs cannot be off-leash here, but are allowed to roam the 95-acre property.

2. Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve, 511 High Bluff Drive, Grafton - is located east of the triple intersection at High Bluff Drive/Lake Shore Road and County Trunk C, in the Town of Grafton. The 73 acre park is located along the bluffs of Lake Michigan. The park is open to the public year round, with daily hours from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. There is an abundant amount of open space for many leisure activities like walking, bird-watching, or just soaking up the sun on a blanket. Dogs and cats are welcome, if on a leash and cleaned up afterwards.

3. Highland Woods, 12701 N. Green Bay Road 59W, Mequon - This 85 acre parcel was purchased by the Ozaukee Land Trust through generous private donations, City of Mequon funds from the land acquisition account, and a grant from the DNR. Located between old Hwy 57/Cedarburg Road and Green Bay Road just south of Highland Road. The park entrance is on Green Bay Road, just south of Highland. Dogs must be on leash. A variety of trail routes can be chosen based upon distance and terrain.

4. Katherine K. Carpenter Dog Park, 801 W. Zedler Lane, Mequon - this is 35-acre busy, spacious and spread out park with a creek and woods for the dogs to play in. The City of Mequon looked into building a second dog park at another location but this was not financially plausible.

If you know of other places you take your dog, please feel to share the information in the Comments area so we can add them to this article. - See more at: http://www.zoomvillage.com/newsStory.cfm/16715/Ozaukee-County-Home-of-the-Dog-Park#sthash.bE4rlWVL.d...
