It is recommended that we get at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 times per week. Do you ever wonder what the benefits of cardiovascular exercise are?

It is recommended that we get at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 3 times per week.  Further recommendations are at least 30 minutes MOST days of the week.  Do you ever wonder what the benefits of cardiovascular exercise are?  Cardiovascular exercise is not only good for you to get in shape and look good, but it is actually very beneficial for so many internal parts of your body as well especially your heart!

Don’t be a statistic -One of the most important benefits of cardiovascular exercise is that it helps to make your heart strong.  This is so important to our society because heart disease is the #1 killer of both men and women.  Cardiovascular exercise will allow your heart to pump blood without working as hard.  Overtime this will greatly reduce the amount of stress put on the heart. 

Reduce Reduce Reduce-Cardio also helps reduce the risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.  Many individuals struggle in one or more of these areas, or are on medication to control these health concerns.

Want to drop a few Pounds? Cardiovascular exercise is one of the best ways to burn calories; this will in turn help you to lose weight.  This factor is also important to our society because many Americas are considered overweight or obese. 

Feeling Stressed? Cardiovascular exercise helps to release endorphins that will help you “feel good” after working out.  Long term cardiovascular exercise will help to lower blood pressure as well as blood pressures response to stress.  This will aid in preventing more serious heart related problems down the road like coronary artery disease or heart attacks.

Trouble Sleeping?  Doing a moderate amount of cardiovascular exercise has proven to help individuals sleep at night.  Studies have shown that aerobic exercise will improve your overall sleep quality by decreasing the length of time it takes you to fall asleep as well as total sleep time during the night.

  • Walking/Jogging/Running
  • Biking/Cycling
  • Sports like basketball and soccer
  • Interval training
  • Cross –country skiing
  • Swimming
  • Aerobics classes
