Bail set at $100K for Stabbing Suspect

Anthony D. Peters set to appear in court March 21.

Bail was set Monday for $100,000 for Anthony D. Peters, the 28-year-old man charged with in connection with last week's stabbing at the Saukville Walmart.

Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Tom Wolfgram set the bail, on the condition that Peters, 617 Montgomery St., is to have no contact with the victim or Walmart. He will also undergo a competency evaluation at the request of his attorney, Adrian Renner.

Peters was charged on Friday in the stabbing of Michael Fosco, 54, of Port Washington.

Police responded to a 911 call at about 2 p.m. Wednesday that a man had been stabbed inside the store. Officers arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody with little incident, Saukville Police Chief Bill Meloy said.

Fosco underwent surgery for a stab wound to the lower abdomen at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, according to Meloy. As of last week, he was still in serious condition.

Peters faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted of the attempted homicide charge.Β  He could face up to two additional years in prison based on the previous misdemeanor convictions.

He is scheduled make his next appearance in the courtroom at 10:30 a.m. March 21.
