Expired Registration Ends in OWI for Saukville Woman

The woman admitted to have about five beers in about four hours.

A Saukville woman is facing operating while intoxicated charges after police conducting routine checks pulled her over because of expired registration.

Police noticed the vehicle driving northbound on South Mill Street at 11:17 p.m. Sept. 20, according to police reports. After checking through the Department of Transportation, police realized the registration was expired.

Police conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle as it pulled into a driveway in the 100 block of Stoney Ridge Way, the report said. Police made contact with the 49 year-old Saukville driver and detected a strong odor of intoxicants emanating from her, along with red, bloodshot, and glassy eyes.

The woman told police she had been watching the baseball game and admitted to having 5 beers since 7 p.m., the report said. The woman agreed to do standardized field sobriety tests and subsequently failed.  She was then given a preliminary breath test with a result reading of .153.

The woman was arrested for Operating while Intoxicated 1st Offense and transported to the Ozaukee County Jail for booking purposes.
